What is JavaScript Beautifier?

JavaScript Beautifier is an online developer tool designed to format minified, obfuscated, or poorly formatted JavaScript and TypeScript source code into clean, readable scripts. JavaScript code downloaded from production sites or bundled build outputs is usually stripped of line breaks and indents. Our JavaScript Beautifier applies AST formatting rules to restore structural indentation, place braces logically, and separate statements neatly.

How to use JavaScript Beautifier

Paste your unformatted JavaScript or TypeScript code into the editor canvas and click 'Beautify JS'. Customize formatting rules in the settings: select 2-space or 4-space indents, configure semicolon enforcement, and set quote preferences (single vs double). Copy the formatted code or save it as a .js file.

Key features

  • Instant JavaScript and TypeScript code beautification and formatting
  • Full support for modern ES2022+ syntax and JSX/TSX components
  • Configurable 2-space or 4-space indentation settings
  • Semicolon insertion and quote normalization options
  • Preserves code comments and inline documentation
  • Instant clipboard copy and file export
  • 100% private browser client-side execution

Common use cases

  • Unpacking minified third-party JavaScript files for security auditing and debugging
  • Formatting auto-generated frontend build artifacts
  • Standardizing script code style before pull request submissions
  • Beautifying inline <script> tags extracted from HTML pages
  • Cleaning up legacy JavaScript codebases

Technical details & standards

The beautification engine supports modern ECMAScript features (ES2022+) including async/await, optional chaining (?.), nullish coalescing (??), class fields, decorators, and TypeScript syntax annotations. All formatting is computed locally inside your browser's V8/JS runtime engine. Your source code and proprietary scripts are never uploaded to remote servers.

Frequently asked questions

Does JavaScript Beautifier support TypeScript syntax?

Yes! Type annotations, interfaces, generics, enums, and decorators in TypeScript are supported and formatted cleanly.

Does beautifying minified JS restore original variable names?

Beautification restores line breaks, tabs, and structural indentation. It cannot restore original variable names if they were shortened (mangled) during minification.

Is my data safe?

All processing happens entirely in your browser. Your data never leaves your device and is never sent to or stored on a server.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Once the page has loaded, most tools keep working without an internet connection.
